Nevada Could Be Adding A New County Which Would Make It The State's 18th County; Las Vegas Could Soon Be Moved Out Of Clark County And Into The State's New County Which Would Include Laughlin As The New County Seat
LAS VEGAS (LVPR) - The border lines are being drawn to split the existing Clark County, Nevada to add the state's 18th county. A $350 Million investment and movement is already underway to split Clark County and Las Vegas could also be extracted and become part of the new county. The new county would also include Goodsprings, Sloan, Boulder City and Laughlin. Presently the split of Clark County shows to run from Sandy Valley which would include Goodsprings up through Sloan and over to Boulder City.
The new lines would be drawn could also include Henderson as well as Las Vegas And North Las Vegas. Existing Clark County government agencies would be moved out of Las Vegas and to the north of Kyle Canyon which would still be part of Clark County as a new city is formed which would border the new county. Clark County would keep Indian Springs, Moapa, Bunkerville, Moapa Valley, Mesquite. Nellis Air Force Base would stay as part of Clark County.
The new county seat could be in Laughlin and the reuse of existing Clark County buildings (those to remain during negotiations during the split and/or auctioned off) in Las Vegas would be re-purposed as needed in the new county. The new county would use an all paper ballot and ballot boxes structure in the new county's election department.
As part of the new county formation, the existing Harry Reid International Airport would be renamed to the Las Vegas International Airport along with the expansion of the airport just outside of Searchlight which would also become part of the Las Vegas International Airport consisting with new Terminals 4, 5 & 6 as the plans presently look. A high speed train or hyperloop transit would run between the Las Vegas International Airport in Las Vegas from Terminal 3 and connect to Terminal 4 outside of Searchlight - time between the airport would be less than 20 minutes to get between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 which would be about 45 miles. Travel time outside of Searchlight's Terminal 4, 5 or 6 to Laughlin would be under 10 minutes via a separate high speed train or hyperloop transit.
The Las Vegas Public Radio Interactive Public Radio Service (IPRS) will continue to monitor the story with information on the initial $350 Million investment to be made which would create the state's 18th county formation and goverment agencies. Restoration of the former Las Vegas Public Radio/PBS Affiliate and KIOF could also be included in the deal as the travel & tourism station is restored but just branded differently.
